I want to be able to type in the date rather than selecting from the calendar - many times we have to enter expenses from the past b/c we don't get the bill or the slip on the same day.

  It would be a good option - basically to have an opportunity to select it from the calendar as well as type it

  Update: the system permits the user to key-in their date instead of selecting it from a calendar/date picker.

  Despite Patrick's comment above, I don't see this feature implemented yet. This is a major usability issue. It is very inconvenient if you would prefer to type a date instead to need to select it from the calendar picker. Having the option of either input method would be ideal. This is the case in some other date fields in the app, such as report start end end dates. It would be nice to have typing and date picker be optional standardized on all date fields in the program, right now they seem inconsistent. There is another post with this same request.
