Bill4Time now offers flexible LEDES exporting, whether you’re exporting a single invoice or multiple at once. This article will walk you through how to export LEDES files from the invoices grid, invoice batch grid, and from an individual invoice view.
Before You Begin: LEDES Export Requirements
Before exporting invoices in LEDES format, ensure the following are set up:

LEDES Export is Enabled:

Go to Settings > System > Edit Settings.

Check "Enable LEDES File Export" and enter your Firm Federal Taxpayer ID.

You are on the Legal Pro Plan:
-
LEDES exporting is only available on this plan. You can upgrade under Settings > Subscription.

Client/Matter-Specific Requirements:

Some clients may require:
-
ABA codes (enabled at firm or client level)
-
Custom Client and Project IDs
-
Timekeeper IDs and classifications (set in Users > Edit or under Client/Matter > Billing Rates)

Export Multiple Invoices to LEDES Format
Option 1: From the Invoices Grid

Go to the Invoicing tab and choose the New Experience toggle.

In the Type filter, select "Invoices Only".

Use the checkboxes to select the invoices you want to export.

Click the LEDES button in the top-right corner of the grid.

A confirmation will appear, and your files will be prepared.
Option 2: From the Invoice Batch Grid

Go to Invoice Batches.
-
Open a batch and use the checkboxes to select the invoices.

Click the LEDES button in the top right corner of the grid.

Choose LEDES Format from the dropdown.
Finding Your Files:

All LEDES exports can be downloaded from Settings > Data Management.
Export a Single Invoice to LEDES Format

Open the invoice you want to export.
-
In the top-right menu, click the Export icon.

Select LEDES Format.
-
The system will generate the LEDES file for that invoice.
Tips & Best Practices

Ensure each client’s billing requirements are configured before exporting.

Review your User Timekeeper IDs and Classifications under Settings > Users if required.

If any data is missing or invalid, you’ll be prompted to correct it before export.
