Import Overview: This article covers the types of imports we offer and the data included in each.
Exporting data from TABS3 (TABS legal software) will depend on the version you're using (desktop vs. Platinum vs. hosted), but here’s a general guide on how to export your data:
🔹 Export Options from TABS3
TABS3 includes built-in export features for most data sets.
1. Exporting via Reports
You can export most reports (clients, time entries, fees, costs, payments, etc.) by following these steps:
-
Open TABS3.
-
Go to Reports and choose the report you want (e.g., Client List, Timekeeper Productivity, etc.).
-
Set any filters (e.g., date range, client/matter filters).
-
Click Print, then select Export to File.
-
Choose a format (e.g., CSV, Excel, or PDF).
-
Save the file to your computer.
2. Exporting from the Client/Matter Lists
-
Navigate to File > Print Setup > Export to File.
-
Choose Clients, Matters, or Timekeepers.
-
Select fields to include.
-
Export as CSV for best compatibility with Excel or other platforms.
3. Using PracticeMaster (if installed)
If you use PracticeMaster (a TABS3 companion product), you can export records directly via:
-
File > Export Data or File > Create Report Writer File.
-
Choose data type: Clients, Matters, Calendar, Journal, etc.
-
Select format: CSV or DBF.
-
Click Export and save the file.
4. Custom Export or Full Data Extraction
For a full data export (e.g., for migration):
-
Reach out to TABS3 support or your local reseller.
-
Ask for a full database export (often in CSV or Microsoft Access format).
-
This is typically done if you’re moving to a different platform.
